Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (Harris)
I just put one on and had to make some adjustments so the drivers side tips would line up with the passenger side. I had to loosen all bolts and jack up the drivers side tips as much as possible and pull down on the passenger tips and then tighten every thing in place. Took two guys and a little time but came out nice. :)
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (Harris)
love the magnaflow setup with x-pipe. bought them from shawn at l.a.p.d.
about 8 mos. ago. quality is great and sound is even better. it has a deeper
not louder sound at idle but at WOT it gets alot louder. the resonance in the
car can be loud at times if your going 65mph in 6th gear. Basically stating
that the resonance can be as loud as you would like it to be.
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (Harris)
I have the cat-back exhaust and I love it. The Magna-Flow is very different from the other systems that I have heard, it's more of a deep sound but when you get on the throttle, they do sing. Resonance is very easy to control on a 6spd. Fit and finish are second to none and they look great.
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (Harris)
I'm sure the Magnaflows are good... but I just installed the Borla Stingers. They run about $409-450 including shipping, sound mean, are one of the lightest systems around (14lbs lighter than stock). I've heard and seen more than few of the aftermarket brands... and can now not imagine why anyone would want to buy another at approx 2x the cost. No resonance, quite during normal driving, and loud when you get on it. Just my opinion, I love these Stingers.

I love the sound of my MAGNAFLOW'S! Little to no resonance, no popping on deceleration. They may be a little heavy but that does'nt bother me.

I concur, Dale. And with FLP's they sound even better now. :D

let us see hear, Borla only has two tips, I like four tips. The Borlas are louder at all rpm as compared to my Magna-Flow. The Magna-Flow comes standard with polished mufflers and looks better IMHO.

# of tips- Personal preference
Loudness - Louder is better, and the Stingers are pretty quiet/resonable with not resonace at cruising and normal driving.
Polished Mufflers - the Stinger's are polished too
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (ncvetteman)
Thwe Borla Stingers are the hottest exhaust that I've seen in 3 years. If you like a 2 tip system that has a very muscular sound to it and actually picks up ponnies. We removed a great Bassani system off a stock 99 C-5 and gained 5 rrwhp and if memory serves correct (15% chance) we picked up about 6-7 Lbs. of Tqe.all at the wheels,I would imagine the power gain would be close to double over atock and this system is about the lightest around 35-40 Lbs. lighter than stock(every 100 lbs. gains 1/10th of your 1/4 mille) so when you combine the extra power output and the weight reduction you may gain upwards of a 1/10th for a real good price.
Even though we sold a bunch to a competitor this morning we still have some in stock I assume Nate has a bunch this is 1 product you dont want run out of they sell like hot cakes. We also carry many X-pipes but I suggest just the system and if you need the X-pipe we have all kinds My 2 favorite are the Corsa and Bassani EZ install beautiful sound. If yo would like to contact Nate or Mike you may do so by hitting the link on my Sig. or call us @480-517-4969
Were 1 of the few dealers who has them in stock 99% of the time we did alot of R&D on this system and were neighbors and we always accomadate each other even if its just for a cup of sugar.
Good Luck in your choice the Bassani system has a very Ferrari type sound not real loud its a great system. The reason for suggesting no X-pipes is yo save you money on something you may not need ,theres good profit on X-pipes but if you need them we will accomidate you.Dave S.PS
I would have to say if the Stinger meets youre needs dollar for dollar its the greatest VALUE ever in HI-PO exhaust systems.Dave
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (Harris)
I saw and heard the Magna-Flows at a show on Sunday. I was impressed with the look (Highly Polished)...They had to be because they hung pretty low below the rear fascia. The owner bought the car with them on and couldn't tell if they were installed up as far as they could go. I liked the polished plat between the pipes just beyond the tips.
But the sound at idle was very deep and "throaty." Much nicer than my Corsa Indys. The sound as he accelerated was awesome.
Don't know about the Stingers: Haven't heard 'em...George
Re: Thinkin' About Magnaflows and X-Pipe Comments? (georgec114)
I agree with the previous comments. Put them on in the driveway, fit was good. I had to drop the sway bar to get the passenger side on. The sound is good but I wish it was a little louder at idle. I was surprised to see there was resonance (like the other posts noted) at 65 mph in 6th gear. It can be annoying but you can work around it.
