Re: C5 TECH do you recommend using fuel injector cleaner, ever??? (AVETTE)
FWIW, I've been running Red Line's SI-1 fuel system treatment continously for a couple of years. I keep a few small (metal) containers in which I have pre-measured amounts, in the trunk to use at each fill up. Each container has 3.5 oz. which I use at each fill up. I use a full 15 oz. bottle at each oil change (9000) miles. I also use Red Line oil. I have a very consistent idle and no other problems and have over 50K mi.
Also, like most folks, I try to use pretty much the same brand(s) of gas most of the time but when you travel a bit there's no guarantees you'll find your favorite. I've had good luck with both Mobil and Texaco, btw.
Hey, what the heck. Works for me! :D :D

Tank additives are ok for routine maintenance for prevention, but wont do much for an injector that is even slightly clogged. It is just to diluted when added to the tank,by the time it reaches the injector...
For the ultimate injector cleaning,we flush the injectors by tapping into the fuel rail with a pressurized cylinder (50psi),using a mixture of GM top engine cleaner and gas.The fuel pump is then disabled, with the vehicle running off the mixture until the cylinder is empty. The results are impressive, and will even open up a fully clogged injector :yesnod:
With the detergents in todays fuel, most of the injector problems that we see are a result of excessive water content upon fillup.Water wont pass through an injector, leading to rust builup at the injector nozzle. In other words,if you add a tank additive 2 months after getting excessive water, you are to late ;)
The procedure that I mentioned above will clear anything from an injector :yesnod:

I agree with 2KBluestreak, Just use detergent gasoline and you shouldn't have a problem. I have been doing that for years in my Vettes and family cars and have never had a problem.
