There are no coincidences. I am no expert but I believe I have read where there are wheel rotation sensors that work in concert with the ABS/Traction Control system. If you have been working around them you might have hit or damaged a connector or have an exposed wire. There are many on this forum that know more about this than me. Try Lucky he seems to know the electrical system better than anyone. Good Luck.
My friend pulled the codes for me using his computer (the best on the market, mechanic by trade). It only showed the same code I was able to pull...no more digits than the c1255, unlike others that had two more digits that pointed to other problems ( wheel sensors and ect)than the ECBM itself.
He was able to reset it, but it came back on. It has gone off 2x by itself, only to come back on. I have cleaned the large plug, nothing out of the ordinary when I pulled it off and inspected it. I also cleaned the ground connection...
I also inspected the wheel sensors prior to pulling the codes..all visually looks ok. It's not the first time I have done the brakes on this car...and I didn't have any issues this time. If it displayed another 2 digits that pointed to a wheel sensor or some other piece of the ABS/ traction control system I'd blame myself for damaging it, but it's not the case.
My codes came and went for a few months and then they 1255 stayed. I did all the tests I could myself and decided to pull off the module this winter. Before I did that I took it to the dealer to confirm it is the EBCM which he did.
