Default Converter Question

Just looking for some suggestions. This may be a common issue so here it is.. I've got a 99 vert with H/C/I , full exhaust, CAI, 60lb injectors, M/T Drag Radial, 3.42 diff and a 3400 rpm vig converter. Plus all the supporting mods. Car made 420 rwhp...

Here's the issue.. I can only get about 2400-2500rpms out of the converter before the car starts to roll. The car 60 foots a mid 1.6x every time but I'd really like to leave harder to get the motor in the power band a lot sooner and obviously turn a better 60ft & E.T. I REALLY don't want to take the trans out again to send the converter out to be adjusted. I thought about maybe a brake upgrade...... pads, rotors all around.. Sticker tire... Any suggestions would be great..

Plan "B" is a 150 shot of the sauce to get it done...

go with 373's . . .

Going higher on the rpms on the convertor doesn't always make for a better 60', in theory, yes it does. I have found a sweet spot in the 2100 - 2200 range. I can bring mine up to about 2800 before pushing the front runners but at that range, it didn't net a better 60'. Besides, it's hard holding that kind of rpms on a footbrake and a pro-tree.

Thx. I'll consider that. The particular day I went was chilly and the track probably wouldn't have held much more due to the low car count & track temp. The car is done for the year so I have all winter to think about it.

Most Vigilante convertors likes to be flashed from a dead idle. The 3600 I have in my car has always liked being flashed and have tried moving the stall up but the 60's suffered. With a very mild heads and cam car and a 3.15 gear my 60's are in the mid 1.6 range with a 315/35/18 Toyo Drag Radial.

I've got box stock PRC heads and a MS4 cam with a 3.42 diff on a 305-35-18 M/T drag radial. Mid 1.60's all day.
