I am planning to upgrade my 98 "wagon wheels" to 2000+ OEM wheels. Can I re-use my 98 sensors with the 2000+ OEM wheels? If not, will the new sensors be recognized by my 98 computer? Any other issues?

Re: Wheels-Sensors mix/match question (SDVette)
I'm only about "as sure" as Dave, that the '98s will fit. I'm trying to find out if the C4 frequency is the same as the C5's. My wheels will not accept the long valve stems that the C5 sensors have. My valve stems are drilled behind the spokes and the long stems hit the calipers up front and the upper control arm in the rear. :cry
The C4 units attach with a band, but my cost is over $200 each.
Try doing one wheel to see if it fits. If it does you are home free. if it doesn't then get one sensor for a 2000 and put it on the rim with out the tire. Just put it on the back of the car with both rear wheels off of the ground and spin it up. It wouldn't take long to get a low pressure code on the DIC if it works, and you will get a service tire presure system message on the DIC if it doesn't work.
