I'm not aware of the existance of that size in a street tire (555R's have that size). It would strap to the 18x9.5 rim but would be unsafe. You may want to look at the Nitto 555 they have 295/45/ZR18's...that is as large as I would go. That is a high tire wall though. I know that some would be reluctant to run a 295/45 on the stock wheels.
Michelin Pilot Sports come in 335/30-18 and yes you would need wider wheels along with a tub. If you want to run a 295, which is the biggest tire they make for a 18" wheel with the right profile that fits on a stock C5, get a 295/35 (Z06 size) it has the correct profile and is what you will want unless you want to tub. It will fit on the stock wheels also, but I imagine with a blower you still won't get any traction
I have mini-tubs installed 2,500.00 not cheap but done by Nate himsesf and theres no way of even guessing the mod.The carpeting looks factory as do the mini tubs from under the car 100% undectable.
I run Michelin Pilot sports on my car mounted on HRE 547" 18x12" and I run
a 335/30/18 with total clearance right now I'm at stock ride height to protect my turbo plumbing, but it will go down 1" after I get my coilovers and T-1 sway bars hard to believe but will handle better than it does now.At the presnt I run Koni's on all 4 corners 8 way adj.as well as energy suspension components and with the rubber combined with lots of neative camber its pretty sticky.
I'll post my results on the forum once I have the install and realign done.If its in your budget for this set up I strongly recomend the tubbing and the 335/30's it allows modded cars a bit of grip and the cornering wet or dry is excellent, also I believe these are the largest tire you can go with and it takes a custom wheel HRE,Fikse as far as I know these 2 brands are beautiful and work the offsets are very exact and between Lingenfelter and XTREME we order quite a few every month which gives LPE and XTEME the best pricing available.
If you need exact advise on tires or tire/wheel combos feel free to call for free advise. We sell more rubber and chrome than anyone on the forum we offer great pricing, warranties and service and like I said as busy as he is call 480-517-4969 or hit the link on my Sig.and mail your question amd we will be there for you weather you buy or not.Looking to be of service to you Dave S.
PS.if you decide to tub we will call the mfr and find someone near you that does the tub work on a regular bassis, you dont want to be test mule and most shops charge more. However the way we do it is 1 full work week around 45-55 hours and we do it at that flat rate of course hopping that we can get your wheel&tire biz as well but no one I've seen does them like LPE or XTREME
After all with any job its all in the details and when it comes to DETAILS Nate has been accused of being ****,but nothing leaves the shop at 99% it must be 100% perfect or its back to the drawing board.Dave
You guys don't think the tires stick out too far with the CCW's and 335's?
They sure look good in the pictures but hard to tell. Seems about the same
as a stock Z06?
