LS1 how to on cam install
I've just read through the posts on cam installations and many posts suggest the LS1 how to procedure.
I'm not having any luck finding the article though. The links provided lead to a page that isn't a "how to".
Anyone have a good link to the procedure?

ls1howto is down right now. Look like someone didn't pay to renew their domain.

Ok thank you.
Specifically this is the link I have followed and the page it brings up didn't seem like the great cam install procedure I keep hearing about..
http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=1
I assume if the site comes back up this link will work..

You may be better off with it down. There are several steps on that site where those who followed it damaged their motors.

the steps for the balancer install and removal. You really need the proper tool for that step. Get a factory service manual, it was a huge help when I did my H/C install

I think a combination of service manual, a good write up with pictures and the myriad of posts here will be my best ticket.
Thank you for the link, for now I just scanned it but right away I'm surprised the most advised link on this board is for a non corvette.

There are a couple of very good books out there which will help with far more than just a cam swap.
If you only buy one of these get this one. Great pictures.

The GM Service manuals are also a must have.
Good Luck.

LS1 How to is pretty much spot on except for the instructions on installing your balancer. Doing it the way it instructs - you run the risk of stripping the threads and that's not good. Definitely pick up that balancer tool:

Other than that make sure you follow the LS1Howto instructions and use Corvette Forum for a source of info and you should be good to go.
