Depends on climate temps.. In your owners manual you will see the viscosity best suited for the climate your in.

I use and recommend Mobil-1 0W-40 during the warm/hot months. The LS engine generally likes modestly thicker oil than basic 5W-30, and M-1 0W-40 has extra zinc & phosphorous which provide extra lubrication at the lifters and rockers.
PS: that book that came with your car isn't a story about a boy named "Manual". It has useful info including oil viscosity recommendation.
