Colum Lock Bypass ?....
I'm sure that this has been beat to death, but it's new to me. I have a '97 and am pretty sure that I need to do the bypass. What I want to know is,
Is there any difference for the Auto and the MN6 (what I have).
Also should I even bother seeing if my car qualifies for the GM fix, our just buy aftermarket.
Too late.....I do know how to spell Column, but I'm still learning to type!

Thanks for the help!

Corvettes of Houston still had them last week. I did my 99 this weekend, took about 25 mins. WIsh I had done it sooner for peace of mind.

For a 6 speed I would just get the bypass, at least that is what I did long before the recall or TSB :smash:
Supposedly LAPD also has some.

Did you just buy the 97 used? If so, do you hear a buzzing, actuating sound in the steering column when you turn the key on/off? If not, you have the bypass.
Check out my site for pic-by-pic instructions.
