which headers are best
shortys are better for autox because they weigh less than long tubes. you can't effectively use 350hp in an autocross event, so the weight savings helps more than added power. they are also bolt on and dont require a tune.
it depends on what you are into, how much money you are willing to spend, and how much time you are willing to spend for installation.

Another thing while you may not use all of the 350 hp that is made at the peak you will use the power under the curve which also sees an increase, but then again Im not one to "cheap" out because then I will regret it later.

the internet is so full of "opinions"
In the case of a road course, there are more straights and wider turns that allow you to put down more power. in this case, power will play a much larger role than in autox. you want to put down as much power as possible throughout the track, so the obvious choice would be long tubes. they might make a little less on the lower end than some shorties, but the long tubes always result in a higher mean effective pressure.
with a similar post-header exhaust system on long tubes, the system for the shorties will always weigh lighter. there is just more material with a long tube setup, and that is undeniable.
i guess one thing that i posted that was wrong is sometimes a set of decent shorties will cost more than a set of cheap long tubes, so they arent always less expensive.
i know that you don't need a tune because I ran shorties for 3 months without a tune with no problems.
I hope you understand now.
Or you could just not let your panties bunch up so badly...

PS, no offence meant to printmanjackson by implying you are a kiddy.

I have an all stock C5 (6 speed)and I am only planning on headers and cold air and a tune.[/QUOT]
American Racing Headers, Jet Hot Coating, Long Tube with 5/8" primaries, 3" collectors with X-Pipe and High Flow CATs. Easy to install. Would also suggest Corsa Pace Car Tiger Shark Exhaust System. Good sound & good looks[/FONT]
Here's how these threads typically go... "Which header is better: A or B?"
All users of header "A" - we love header A, they're the best - don't believe the hype of header B.
All users of header "B" - we love header B, they're the best - don't believe the hype of header A.
Then you get users of other header brands, "Hey, don't forget to look into header C and D, they're great too." Header C and D are cheaper and perform almost as well as A and B.
Eventually, questionable claims are made by members resulting in the actual header manufacturers to chime in and poke each other in the eyes...

Seriously, why the hell are you modifying your Corvette? It's perfect the way it is. You would never catch me making any changes to my C5.

On the lower end of the price scale XSPower offers great value and is what I run. Some like OBX while others do not.
I hope I have answered your question without any wisecracks about the "search" button.
I appreciated a straight answer when I first joined the forum and still do even after using the search button also.
