So...I just found out that the adapter that connects the VR to my TB blew out, and is creating a huge vacuum leak. Car wont hold an idle and I cant drive it. The dealer says that the problem occurs bc the adapter isnt oil rated, but I should be able to get another from VR so I can drive the car. I called and left a voice mail for them, but need to know that I will have a solution quickly.
Has anyone else run into this? Any recommendations?
It's not a vacuum leak if it's before the TB. It is after the MAF so you're getting lots of unmetered air into the engine that the maf has not accounted for. That is what's causing your idle issues. Cover up the hole with some duct tape for now until the new coupler arrives.
The coupler most likely was rubbing on something that caused it to get worn through. The coupler doesn't burst from the inside out. The Varam does not make that much positive pressure. It has nothing to do with being "oil rated."

Thanks...Ill look for something that it could be rubbing on, but there is nothing near it...The oil rating was just what the dealer told me. I have no clue what caused it!

Yeah.. thats was your first mistake.. dealer..
As stated above.. Id check jfor something rubbing aginst it.. the couplers are WAY too thick to "blow out"
Ben Lomond eh... I have a friend who used to live there.. had a house right on the river.. He started to grow webed feet because of all the rain you guys get up there.. He move away.. but still has teh webbing between his toes!
Had idle and light hesitation with mine - on close examination I had pulled the bottom of the silicon that attaches to the maf almost off when I had checked my air filter. Put it where it belonged and retightned the clamp. WahLah!! Even at my age i still struggle to remember KISS.

I'm not saying that this is the cause but it MIGHT BE that the coupler did not wrap completely over and around the BOTTOM side of the throttle body... a common oversight
