Default Larger TB

Is it worth it? I'm thinking of doing TPIS LT headers, LS6 intake and maybe the 80mm TB?? I'm not going to mess with the maf ends and the maf due to all the mixed, mostly bad, reviews. Will I pick up some real HP with this combo? How do the TPIS's compare to the FLP headers which cost another $500+ ?

TPIS headers are a great product no doubt but after careful consideration I decided to spend the extra coin and just installed the FLP headers with great success. The FLP's offered me the ability to have a true "bolt-on" solution and the option to switch out my cats to straight pipes for the track. The quality, fit and finish is outstanding and they are built to last IMHO. The LS6 intake is another easy upgrade with some good potential for HP/TQ improvements but gives more impact to heads/cam setups due to better airflow. Still there are improvements across the board with this add-on. On the TB, IMHO you should have the stock unit ported and polished, remove the screen on the MAF and add ported and polished ends. Doing my MAF ends with screen removal was an added improvement to the overall performance with a quicker throttle response. You should reconsider this upgrade for I think that it was well worth the $75.00. What you will find is that everyone on this forum has an opinion and the hardest issue is for you to decipher through all the rhetoric and that the biggest problem. Make decisions based on your comfort level and research and good luck with your mods! :chevy

I think the BBK is a waste of money. In my opinion, your best choices are Mark Shaner who's had very good success with his performance throttle body on the Fbody and now working on a PTB for the C5. http://home.att.net/~m.shaner/wsb/ht...ome.html-.html The other TPIS. DRM performed a before and after dyno with TPIS' ported throttle body as the only mod; gained 8 rwhp.

Thanks for the feedback. 8Rwhp doesn't sund too bad if the TPIS isn't too costly. The FLP's just seem so costly, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

I don't have any good tuners close by, and may with the MAF ends and new maf or screen deleted reported little or less HP. I think some where running lean. I a friend with a 99 z28 wasn't running very good times for his mods compared to his friends, and I advised him to try the stock unit again, he gained half a second!!

BBK 80mm T-body might be worth a few horsepower on a stroker motor car, or even heads/cam, but on a stock head/cam, stock displacement car, I wouldn't bother. Sometimes there is problems getting the car to idle perfectly with the BBK because of the TPS, so it may not turn out to be just a bolt-on.

I would just leave the T-body as is for now and put the money into something else. Perhaps add the T-body cash to the header fund and move up to a set of the TTS headers that, in my opinion, are much better quality and give a stock displacement motor a better performance increase because of their slightly smaller diameter tubes. Email me you want any info on the TTS headers.

Thanks for all the feedback. As far as the color, they look the same to me, and its just what I call the car.
