I want to start by thanking Forum members for all the information I have received on these 2 topics. So far none of it has solved the problem but it has helped me understand much more of how the C5 should/can work with regards to lighting.
I purchased the 2000 Coupe which has a new, upgraded computer. (I know this because my hypertech won't work with it and hypertech says its the "newer" computer) The DRL feature turns on and raises the headlamps always regardless of time of day. The Twilight sentinal cannot be turned off through the DIC. I have replaced the sensor with the 4.7k ohm resitor as suggested. I have pulled the relays, insulated the relays, pulled the approach fuse, etc and nothing has had any impact on those lights from popping up as soon as the e-brake is released.
My understanding is that DRL should onld put on the headlights when its dark otherwise the DRL is parking/fog lamps only - Is that how it works on other 2000's??
Given all of that does anyone have any suggestions? I would be happy with DRL active if the headlamps would stay down.
If you've tried all the other ways, is it possible the sensor has gone bad and not reacting to light/dark conditions? It should still be covered by GM.
Just a shot in the dark here but since the lights remain down until the e-brake is released maybe there is a short or defective switch in the emergency brake circuit.
>>>No, The shop manual sez that the DRL's are suposed to be out when the e-brake is on.<<<
If the e-brake is on with the engine off the DRL's will be off when the car is started. If the e-brake is applied with the engine running, they will remain on.
