Default Cannot Figure out this Engine Noise!!!

Just had an engine built *408 stroker / 4'' crank, eagle h beam rods, JE turbo pistons , bullet reverse duration turbo cam, 6.0 heads. All professinally built and put together except I installed the pushrods/rocker arms/ clutch/ oil pump, pickuptube, and pan. And from the first start up there is this deep knocking sound. it not a fast ticking or clattering sound. I could feel the knock when I placed my hand on the oil pan. The engine Idles and revs up fine, but when accelerating the knock does get fast with the rpms. So im not sure if maybe somehow I could have not installed something right? maybe the crank could be hitting the oil pan trey?( yes I put the washers inbetween the trey and bolts) Or maybe a lifter has failed? But i wouldnt think you could feel a lifter from the oil pan? Not sure if maybe the pickup tube could be getting hit? I got plenty of oil pressure. Not much of a way to figure it out without having to start tearing bits and peices off untill I find it. Anyone have any experience with strange knocks?

Was the engine bar'd over after the oil pan, windage tray installed? What does your engine builder suggest? Any deep knock noise is NOT good. I would suggest not running it anymore until to cause is identified.

I would start by pulling all the plugs and barring over and see if you feel/hear something.

I would get that oil pan back off and start checking things.

I would guess a lifter, but check your oil pan as well...

I would drain the oil and carefully cut the filter apart looking for anything unusual.

Pull plugs bar over before pulling pan. Feel and listen. Report back.

I agree...do the easy stuff first before having to go the rest of the way with it.

What does the engine builder say about the knock, willo they stand behind their work?

A failed lifter would sound like a loud tap sound rather than a deep knock. I know, it happened to me.
