Yes - they are hi-flow cats ----- unless they were previously gutted, then they are just wide spots in the plumbing.

X3. Collectors on the headers are a dead giveaway, and look to be their high-flow cats behind them.

I'm hoping they are cats and haven't been gutted, but the car sure as hell doesn't smell like it has any on there.

Are they easily removable since there are clamps surrounding the cats?

Yes, it should be easy to remove. Get the car up on a hoist and loosen the back end of the system. Remove the clamps front and back and the cats should easily come off.

The conversion efficiency of high flow cats are very low, and use a much lower content of precious metals compared to stock cats. If you have at least a mild cam, you are still going to "smell" out back a little bit at idle.

Anyone have any idea if these cats (excluding the cam) will pass the "sniffer" portion of a CALI smog check?

I'm only concerned with the "sniffer" portion. Not the visual inspection or CARB approvals...
