T-Top seals

I am replacing my seals on my t-tops. When I removed the old ones they had used sealant to help attach them to the frame along with the plastic pins. The pins appear close enough to me not to have to do that but this is a first for me. I have an '80 with glass tops. Please advise. Thanks
