Default 01 Z06 Not starting

Whats up all...

C5 has been sitting for a bit. So I went and got her ready to run but I'm having some probs. Actually it was doing this before I put her in storage. When I turn the key on I will get power to the gauges and some other interior stuff but if I try to start it nothing happens. No power to the radio or windows either.

It was doing this before storage but would always start (eventually).

Now, It started once but I can't get it to do it again. I cleaned the terminals to the fuses under the hood but no luck.

Just thought Id pick your brains before I start ripping things apart..

Have you replaced the battery or tested to see if you are getting correct voltage?

Is the clutch switch working? Are the VATS terminals intact? Does the starter relay work properly?

Subscribing, going through the same issues. Car sat for a few days and went to start it this morning and it tried to crank and then nothing. Tried to start it again and got a LOW VOLTAGE message, I then ran the codes and P1631 popped up as H C.

Good questions. What tests should the OP do to make sure those three things are working properly?

The SECRET to solving a NO CRANK issue is,, you need to use this schematic:

The TDR is the start point!!!

The problem is/was intermittent and has progressively been getting worse. I just ran across this thread and I bet this is the problem. I'll test my starter switch tomorrow.

HANG ON FOR A MINUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

I will be the FIRST,, to tell you that your IGNITION SWITCH most likely needs work BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its "LOW" on the suspect list and most likely NOT,,,,,,,,, your problem!

I would be more towards a defective stater SOLINOID!

Again,,,,,,,,,, the schematic and a VOLT METER will save you TIME & MONEY!

Sorry, I stated that wrong. Not codes but "service traction control active handling" and I think "reduced power" messages.

I'll go check.. yes, I feel like an idiot!

My issue turned out to be a dead cell in my battery. I purchased a new batt and she's purring again.

My battery was toast and the first thing I replaced.

Today I removed the ignition switch in hopes of a quick fix. I had some bad connections so I repaired and reinstalled. It did not fix my problem although all TC and AH messages are now gone and I can check one problem off the list.

Ok I checked the DIC and I am getting codes:

40 BCM NO COMM.
58 SDM U1000 HC
U1064 HC
60 IPC U1160 HC
U1176 HC

HVAC NO COMM.

So, not really sure where to start. I dont have a workshop manual (anymore). Is the BCM under the passenger side footrest next to the fuse box? does NO COMM indicate a bad BCM or a possible connection problem?

One common denominator is the feed from the ignition switch to the IPC, BCM, and Airbag. With the key on, I would check for battery voltage at the following fuses in the passenger footwell:

1) minifuse #19
2) minifuse #16
3) minifuse #13

I would recomend replacing the starter. From the symtoms you listed, it would seem that the solenoid is failing and the vehicle is still sending power to it instead of the radio ETC.

I had a similar issue combined with a couple of others. The starter fixed my intermitint no start with power inside the car issue.
