Im not sure where to post this and Im sure its been posted a million times. But I dont really have access to hand washing my car so I have to use self service or touch free drive throughs and then i can dry it, but I just got the car Saturday, 03 z. LOVE IT. Anyways, went to the self service and the drivers side is perfect, no leaks or anything. The passanger side, not so much the front corner leaks, and the bottom of the door actually comes in a good bit, the weather strip seems fine and the door closes tight.
Ok I think I may have narrowed it down, but i need to get someone to hose the car down while im inside, the front corner of the window glass, isnt really covered by the weather strip. The strip seems to be in correctly, i pulled it out some and put it back in?.. Anyways I read a little about doing some adjustments to tip the window in or out.
Well, I popped off the little reflector, and the front plug, well first thing I noticed the nut that holds the regulator in behind the reflector is missing. And the one under the front plug was pushed all the way in towards the door? So...didnt really do anything?
It rained today and only water got in on the front corner of the seat, sitting in the parking lot in a hard rain, nothing else appeared or felt wet.
Don't try and add any sealers to the weatherstrip or you can make it worse. The trim and the weather strip work together to seal the windshield/door. I had the windshield replaced in my 03Z and it was a bear to get it sealed back up again. Finally had to have new trim and weather strip and the body shop (Corvette Body Expert) guy from the dealership get it sealed properly.
Can be a real PIA but can be fixed by somebody who knows what they are doing and has the correct factory approved adhesive/sealer.
Ok well fml, I drove through the touchless wash tonight, had a flashlight and there's multiple leaks lol. The passenger side is worse, wherever it comes through at it leaks out from the top of the pillar through the headliner.... And also the backside of the door (where the exterior handle is) it comes through the weatherstrip, you can watch out push through the seal. The drivers side, I can only assume the same for the door because the floor behind the seat gets wet ..
Well....you are going to have to look at all of the weatherstrips on the door itself, door jam area, window of course and so on. Even the roof top strip needs to be examined if its a coupe. They are fairly easy to replace although the targa top side seals went way up in price.
Alright, will do. I read through a few threads and I think ill either pull out the interior and do it that way, or pull all the weather strip and add sealer where I find leaks, is mostly what I was reading through here to do.
