I am sure this has been beat to death also, I have an oppurtunity to change my stock C5 wheels and tires out for zo6 wheels and tires, my
problem is,the stock 275/40 18=10.3" tread, the zo6 295/35/18 =10.2" tread width. Why would one want to switch combinations to have less rubber on the ground ? Am I missing something ? I realize it is minimal but larger tire, more money for what ? Any reviews I have read, the GY Supercar tires don't have near the tread depth and wear out faster. There must be something else to this that I am not seeing,if anyone cares to enlighten me I am open for your thoughts.
Less rubber? Z06 wheels (10.5") are an inch wider than the stock C5 wheels (9.5") You'll have more rubber on the road
thats what i thought, i know the wheels are an inch wider, but the tires, even tho they are bigger, the stock tires are 10.8 sec with 10.3 tread width,z tires are 11.7 section with 10.2 inches on the ground, go figure
You must be using the GY tread figures. I never inderstood that.... But if you look at the 2 side by side, you'll see the Z06 wheel puts more tire to the pavement
