Recently started hearing a noise coming from the rear end that gets louder the faster the car goes, can start to hear it around 20 mph and very noticible at 65. Sounds like a bearing going almost but it is not getting much worse with time.
2000 C5-
Any ideas?
Thanks all-
Chris

It does not seem to change based on engine load, only speed. It sounds like a top fuel dragster or funny car after they run the 1000 feet and let off the gas, almost like its winding down.
Not very noticible under acceleration just at cruise and after letting off the gas.
I could have sworn my rear end was making noise too, but at 7000 miles I couldn't believe it. I ended up checking everything over and listening carefully while putting a side load on the wheel bearings. Turned out to be the RR wheel bearing....... I changed it and all is quiet again!
I had a noise going around a corner, only late at night in this case. I went to drain and refill the differential only to find it was severely low on fluid and never any evidence of a leak. The noise didn't go away, therefore my assumption the differential was toast, so I had a brand new one installed ($1898) at the dealer. Noise was still there. Turns out, it was cupping on the rear tires.
