Default How do I keep exploding Diffs?!

Exploded my stage 4 DTE, with the Diff brace... cracked it right down the middle. I blew it up a while back, same kinda crack in the case but I thought it was because I didn't have a diff brace. Well apparently the diff brace doesn't matter (unless it was loosened up) because that damn case cracked again when I tried launching my car at the track...

I haven't pulled it apart, been working on my stock vette so I can drive it daily... This is what it looked like the first time the diff exploded.

I was thinking about getting a case, rebuilding this one... or getting a c6z rear diff... any experience or knowledge to help me out?

You are traveling down the road many of us have already been down.

TR6060/C6Z Diff conversion and be done with it.
or
Built A4/Stall Conversion if u want to drag with your eyes closed.

Both will save you from creating more scrap metal.

The C5 trans/diff case structural integrity (as a whole) is for sh*t (even with a or all braces installed). The pinion support is mounted to an incredibly weak component (aka: the gay C5 diff case; 3-rib, 1-rib doesn't really matter). Someone should really design an externally stabilized pinion support system that maybe ties into the DTE/ECS brace (it would replace the entire pinion access cover). The instantaneous shock produced by a high RPM manual trans launch (w/ a sticky tire) will cause the diff case to flex at the trans mounting junction; which then causes the pinion assembly to pitch with the mainshaft. This ends in the pinion binding on the ring gear and POW! There goes your stage 5000 C5-based drivetrain (usually takes out your mainshaft when everything grenades). The remedy for most manual trans guys would be: TR6060 & C6Z/ZR1 diff, but if you are a dedicated drag racer you might look into going auto like Joshua mentioned above and save yourself a ton of trouble.

ECS trans brace & PFADT diff brace installed

Appreciate it guys, how much do you think that stage 4 would be worth rebuilt considering all the hard parts are still peachy?

Man, that sucks. What kind of power you putting down? What were your 60 foots prior to this?

I was thinking about getting that brace but if it doesnt make a difference then I guess I will hold off.

You would be better off going with Silent Freight's suggestion in regards to the TR6060 & C/6 Z/ZR1 diff.
Then you should be able to put those Hoosiers to good work w/out carnage.
Good luck.

Made 480, no 60' times to show for it. I tried to do my best impersonation of slipping the monster ceramic and it popped immediately.
