Any of the fully synthetic oils meeting the GM standard will perform just fine. I recommend the GM filter, but again, most "top shelf" units from the major brands will serve well.
I've ran ACDelco, WIX, NAPA Gold, Amsoil and currently a Purolator PureOne PL14006. All give me the same oil pressure, so all flow well.
PureOne probably has the best filtering efficiency (99.9% @ 20 microns), and they flow very well as can be seen in lab test data. Hard to refute real test data, which is hard to get from the manufactures like shown in the link below.
I remember on the old school generation engines we use to address this valve on the filter adapter so it wouldn't open so easy and it would filter all the oil.
The info for the oil is on the oil fill cap and in your manual. Filter, take a pick...........................
go by the manual.
fill cap is just an advertisement. they could have put pennzoil platinum on the cap just as easily. any GM specd oil. there is a list floating around here.
Mobil one is my choice---I'm not a fan of the over advertised Royal Purple its a reatil brand
Also Mobil One now has several choices--be careful here they have
Mobil One Super Synthetic
" " Hi Mileage
" " 4x4 truck
" " Extended Performanace
and 2-3 others---
The super synthetic is the cheapest at around $4.99 QT
The Best is their Extended Perf. at around $8.99 qt
As far as filter go---I have had bad lick with Fram--plugging up and also lowering oil pressure---even when NEW----A test was dome I found online---Not done by a Manufacturer and they found that the Best filters that flowd the best and cleaned the best were :
1. K&N
2. Mobil one
3. A/C Delco
ALSO---For even better protection you can install a filter than is exactly the same but 1" longer---I use this-No ground clearance issues and my caris lowered with LT's- It is the filter used on GM truck 6.0 engines---I think the K&N $ is 2006
