Rear main seal removal
in the GM manual it says when replacing rear main seal (in car) to gently pry out the rear main seal and then install a new one with the J tool. can i pry out the rear main seal while the cover is on the motor (it looks like it has a little tap where you could pry)?
I know i can hit it out when the cover is not on the motor but the motor is in the car and the rear cover is on the motor....

Try the screw method. Use a good size screw and screw it into the middle section of the seal. Use that to pry (I use long nosed pliers) aginst the crank (make sure to use something so you don't damage the crank). This is the easiest way I know. Good luck!
