Horsepower is not what breaks components in the drive train; torque is. Pfadt stated that the carbon fiber torque tube was torture tested and survived half a million cycles at 1350 ft/lbs of torque and only broke at 4500 ft/lbs. A gas engine making that much torque would likely be making at least as much horsepower (on gas motors peak torque ratings are usually either equivalent to or lower than HP ratings) though it all depends on how the motor is built.

Either way, from what Pfadt stated...I'd trust that torque tube on just about anything. Maybe, just maybe, a built diesel could break it, but not easily.
