hey guys I am trying to figure out the wierd thud noise I have everytime I go over a bump. I not sure if its the shocks or rear mount on the rear cradle. should there be any play with the mount? I put the car on ramps the I was able to put the jack under the trans and was able to get alot of movement, but it does not seem to be broken.
The differential sets on the rear cradle, held by two nuts attached to two studs.
Look to see if those two nuts are loose or possibly the studs are not broken.
Good luck.

Check to see if there is fluid leakage on either rear shocks to detect shock failure.
If you have an aftermarket cat back, it could possibly hitting on something.
Look for areas of scuffing, scratches, or wear marks.

Good ideas. If you don't come up with anything there drop the cradle and see if the mount is busted.
Your probably allready well aware that there are two bolts going upwards from the transaxle bracket into the rear of the differential.
Make for certain that they are not loose or broken
There are of course the two bolts facing downwards from this bracket goiing through the transaxle mount & rear cradle, with nuts on the bottom side of cradle.
Do hope you find the culprit of the noise.
I have checked all mounting points, but I will recheck them, when I checked them nothing was loose and all are torqued down to specs.
You spoke of a "thud" noise in your first post.
This isn't a metal to metal clanking?
If the top shock mount bolts are loose this would create a deffinite noise.
Allso the very top side of this mount (you cant see it) where the top of the shock is mounted with a nut, could be loose, causing a noise.
I will check the mount that you talk about I was not aware of that. live and learn I hope thats it. I know the the shock is not loose,so maybe the mount.

The nuts for the shock mount plate are factory welded in. (2)
Some times the weld breaks.
Othertimes it could be the bolts come loose from factory shock mount plate .
