A friend has a 2000 and his battery keeps draining. He brought it over for me to look at. I am not a mechanic by any means, but I unhooked the battery to have it tested. It tested good so when I was hooking the neg. cable back up the drivers side headlight motor started to run.
I took it back off and did it again same result. Could this be the problem? Shemp
The motor should NOT run unless its commanded to go UP or DOWN. It should STOP when the door gets to the UP or DOWN limits.
Sounds like the drive gear is stripped and needs to be replaced.
You can unplug that head light motor and to see if the car is still drawing excessive current, you have to put an AMP METER in series with the negative battery cable and the battery. 20 milliamps is the BCM designed sleep current draw and that is acheived around 10-12 Minitues after the circuit is reconnected to the meter.
