Hey guys, My 01 Vett broke down on me yesterday. Was running fine until out of nowhere, when I accelerated it bogged down on me. So I stopped and idled, then I started hearing sort of a whining noise from the engine area. And it started clunking out on me and died. Now it won’t start. So I sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it starts then dies. I checked pressure from the fuel rails by taking off that cap and pushing the lil button in and it has air pressure but only drops of fuel comes out. and it does have enough gas. I added some to make sure. So what yall think it could be? Thanks
I SERIOUSLY doubt you have a clogged line. Start by examining the fuel pump FUSE and the relay. Get a meter and see if you have voltage at the fuse.
When you turn the ignition to ON,, you should hear the fuel pump run (HUM from the rear compartment) for a few seconds and then stop. That the prime sequence. If you don't hear that,, the pump isn't running. Check power first!!!
I will run to the store and by a meter, since I only have a test light. What voltage should I be looking for? Fuses looked good but I will replace anyway. And I don’t hear the pump running, I could not remember if I could hear it before this. But you answered that question.
YEP! That could be the issue.. Your fuel transfer siphon pump isn't moving the fuel from the passengers tank to the drivers tank where the pump is located. You have fuel level in the passengers tank but, it can not get to the pump.
Finally I found the problem... Been working on it all day. It is the transfer problem. I replaced the fuel filter witch was clogged but that didn’t fix it. So I pulled the fuel pump left driver side out to see if I had gas in the tank and nope it was empty. So I also pulled the right side. And it had plenty of gas in it. I then drained all the gas out because I am an idiot. When I put more gas in it from a gas can I had around, and after doing so I remembered that the gas had water in it. SOOOOO that pissed me off there for I drained all gas out. Now fresh gas in and all back together running. SO How do I fix this transfer problem??? Thanks for all the input so far
WOW! You were already there. Open the passenger tank and remove the siphon jet. Its most likely clogged with trash. Make sure that the tank is spotless before you seal it back up.
The siphon pump has a supply line from the pump that sprays a pressurized stream into an educator which blast the fuel from the passengers tank back to the drivers tank which keeps it full to the transfer pipe. Make sure you have that pressurized stream from the pump. Theres a clog somewhere.

Thanks. And Yeah I thought I would have to go back in there, but I had to see if it would run. So now I will be going back in when I have more time and patience.
