Default Help PLEASE!!!!!!

I took my rear axles out of my 1999 Vette, and bought new ones, and I cannot get them back in. The whole on the rear end/Differential, inside the seal, on the male end of the spline, it has a Clip/washer like c clamp in a small slot/indention, about a 1/2" in on the male end of the spline, and is a slightly a bit bigger than the spline. I can squeeze it in, and it would work, but when I let go, it spreads back out enough to make it a little bigger than the spline itself. and the female part ( Spline) on the new axle will not go onto the male part of the spline in the whole on the differential. Does anybody know how to put the axle in the rear end/Differential with that clamp in the way. I can squeeze it in with my fingers or pliars, but as soon as I let go, it spreads back out enough that the female spline on the new axle will not slide back onto the male end of the spline. Please help if anybody has ever done this. I want to do it right, but need a little help, somebody that knows what they are doing. Thanks a billion.

Mine didn't have any clips.

Are you working inside the differential?

Default Please help>>>>>>>>>

Not inside, just at the edge. I just pulled the axle out with the rear end/Differential still attached under the car. Took Shocks, Control arms Spindel/Hub off and trying to put the new axle back into the whole, inside the seal, onto the male end of the spline, and there it is about a 1/4" in, on the male spline, a slot/Indention on the male end of the spline, that this clip sits in. The female end on the spline on the axle goes onto a male end spline inside the edge of the Differentiial. It is not like a washer, it is not completly attached. It has about a 1/8" opening, so that I can squeeze it shut, to make it smaller than the spline, and it will slide on. But when I let go, it springs back out, and is bigger than the male spline, and will not let the female spline go onto the male end. How go I get the female spline end over that spring like clip is the question.

That small C clip should be there. It fits in a grove inside the CV Cup.

You should be able to push the CV Cup over the output shaft. It might take a little force. Have you tried to use a little BLUNT FORCE?

Line it up and give it a whack. When the cup goes over the shaft, the Ring compresses and then it expands into the grove inside the CV Cup.

Heres are a few post that shows the output shafts and the C rings:
