Ok, I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer so please help. I installed an ls6 intake on my '98 ls1, do I need an ls6 fuel rail? The reason I ask is that the #1 injector seems to be at more of an angle and the fuel rail receptacle is straight. Of course #1 injector is leaking like crazy where it goes into the fuel rail. What's up with that?
Hmm...I installed new injectors with new o-rings and lubed them. Guess I'll pull it apart and check that. Bill, I'll get a pic up for you to see if I need more advice. Thanks.
Notice how the fuel rail injector receptors are angled except for #1. It comes straight out of the rail or it almost looks like it is angled slightly the wrong way. Is it bent? I'm a very careful mechanic and I know this is exactly the way it came off the car but the angle that the injector goes into it won't allow it to seal. Nothing wrong with the o-ring that I can see. I never had a problem with my old ls1 intake with this rail or old injectors.
You bent the injector bung. This is what my rail looks like on #1.
Hey noob, thanks for the picture. Mine certainly is bent or maybe a manufacturing defect. I do know that I didn't bend it. Perhaps a previous owner or mechanic.
Success! I found a wood dowel that was just the right size to fit snugly into the bung and carefully put pressure on it and was able to get it back to the proper angle. Whew! Fuel rail is back on the car and no leaks. Thanks everyone for the input.
