with that many miles, the silicone trick might be the way to go. it may not be long until something starts malfunctioning, but then again it might last a lot longer. Most say this temp fix lasts about a year. you could just reseal it every year though.
I read somewhere that you can try to use a vacuum attached to the fill hole to help suck the sealant up into the void. i would suggest draining the fluid as much as possible before doing this and making sure you block off any ventallation holes.
