Changed my stock intake to a VR Power Duct with an aFe filter. After installation fired it up all was fine, but I noticed the filter sat so high it hit the hood when closed. I added a 4" long silicone coupler to drop the fiter lower, and when I fired it back up this time the check engine light came on and stayed on. The car is an 04 ZO6 with 24,000 miles. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
The duct I've got relocates the MAFS up to the TB. The only thing seperating them is a 2" silicone coupler. I'm gathering it's the MAFS that sensing the code, therfore the problem is aft of the MAFS. Thing is as stated in the directions I ran the car at idle untill it got up to temp and then retightened all clamps. Thank you so much for the information.
I have been having Check Engine issues with my 2003 AE. I have had the car for 9 months and the check engine light has come on 3 times. The car runs great. Each time I have it checked it comes up as a Vaccuum issue. The shop resets and I go on. I check the gas cap and am always sure to tighten it each time I remove it. I saw you told the previous inquirer to "pull the codes" ? I watched the tech with the machine and all I caught was POO2 or something like that? How do you pull the codes?

Hold the "Options" button down and at the same press the "Fuel"button 4 times in a quick manner and the DIC will start flashing the codes. Have a pencil and paper ready.
It means start looking for air leaks AFTER the MAF. Loose hose clamps, cracks in the air tubes/bridge, loose or cracked hoses on the PCV etc. Usually you see the codes for both banks but I have heard of just one side detecting the lean condition. The VR product is notorious for causing this code but most owners of that product don't want to hear it.....
The only ones who seem to have this problem is the Z06 owners because of the unscreened MAF.
Had same problem..i bought the halltech screen.no more light...i have the blackwing i was told it creates a different air flow which screws with the sensor. So the screen makes the air flow straight..

After checking and double checking all possible causes I ordered the screen myself. Should be here any day now, hope it solves my problem.

You get a "thumbs up". You answered the question in two lines. Thats something like a two minute sales meeting.
