I put my car up on a lift today and noticed that both sides where the tailpipes are connected before going over the rear axle have been leaking. I can see the exhaust on the outsides of the joints. Question: Is there supposed to be some kind of gasket between these sections of pipe or are they just supposed to be tight enough not to leak? I cannot see any gasket there.
Yeah well a couple of months ago I had the differential and the transmission seals replaced. I believe they left the gaskets out of the tail pipe when they put it back together. I didn't see no stinking gaskets today!
Yep, there should be gaskets there. Even if you get stuck doing it yourself, they are cheap, and you could put them in faster than I can type this message (once it's on the lift). Good Luck!

Guess what. The welds in the exhaust flanges are bad. Imagine that. Once again the car never ceases to amaze me. They will have it fixed this afternoon.
:D  :D
