I've been looking for a replacement stereo for the corvette for weeks. I even purchased the Parrot Asteroid at some point due to the clean look, but due to more research and bad reviews I cancelled the order. I basically want a digital media radio that is very clean. No blue and red lights to rice up the dashboard. I was checking ebay yesterday and found this http://www.soundstormlab.com/main/796. I know they are known for having cheap products, but I got this on ebay for $119 and it's regularly over $200. Look how beautiful it is, it looks like an iphone on it's side. Anyway, I bought it, but I can't find a single review for any of their LCD touch screen products.
I'm going to mount it with a 1.5din adaptor that has a pocket below the radio for my phone. I'll post pics when it's installed.
Why did you cancel the Parrot? I ask because I thought about ordering it myself....what held me back was that they seem to be a new player in the car audio game and I'm partial to Pioneer.
I want something simple and clean as well, along with having all the the features I'm looking for.

The Parrot isn't a touch screen and it got bad reviews. I wanted to use google maps, but how bad would that suck without a touch screen.
It looks nice but the mini USB port on the front is a pain. You have to hang an adapter and the USB stick off the front of the radio. The SD card slot could eliminate that problem though.
I'm wondering how using Pandora on the Parrot would work. I know that you have to buy a 3G wireless dongle to use internet, but do you have to pay for a service? I'm really curious how it all works. Can you stream through blutooth through a phone? The reviews I've seen so far don't seem to answer those kinds of questions.
Also please post the links to the wiring harness and install kit you use.
I received the radio yesterday and the build quality is very good. I'm still waiting for the antenna adaptor I ordered so I can't put it in yet.
FYI, I am using this reference on the forum as an install guide. All of the wires on this radio match right up, but it doesn't have an illumination so I won't connect the one from the Metra kit.
The only difference is I'm using the 99-4000 dash kit since it has a pocket in the extra 1/2 DIN space which might be useful for a cell phone or USB stick. They call it a CD Jewel case slot and it will hold 2 of those, but who has CDs any more really.
I only had about an hour after work to put this in but I have it installed, I just don't have the console in yet and I don't like how the radio sleeve fits. It's a little loose so I'm going to pull out the radio and put a couple of screws to secure it. I'll take pics tomorrow afternoon if possible when I finish. This is one damn nice radio, and I've had a bunch of them in my years (going on 43 this week). Touch screen is bright and responsive. All of the wiring was a breeze and the metra converter worked perfectly.
