I bought my '01 coupe in July of '01, and while I had it "in hibernation" for the '01-'02 winter, I insatlled a Hurst shifter. I'm very satisfied with it.

After I purchased the shifter, but just prior to installing it, I was looking through the shop manual, to get a feel for what was involved in doing an R&R on the shifter. It was at this point that I discovered the "shift rod" adjustment procedure.

I highly recommend doing this operation, either before contemplating replacing a "balky" OE shifter, or while installing an aftermarket shifter, to make sure things work as well as possible.

I had a B&M and then replace it with MGW. Both are better than the OEM which is a POS. The MGW feels slightly more precise than the B&M and is less noisy. Both the MGW and B&M make more noise than the OEM (which made no noise).

I went from a BPP to the TPS shortened and threaded C6 Z06 shifter, which I really enjoy. The only change I'd make would be to keep the shaft straight instead of curved toward me. I guess if I were 6'7, it'd be perfect but as it is, my shift **** sits a little bit too close to me when in 2nd, 4th, or 6th gears.

Fortunately, the shifts are short and vibrationless, making every drive lots of fun.

Lots of history with a Hurst and a cool decal.

This was the first Post with the Hurst shifter, It has my vote also. I installed it in my 04 in 05 and have enjoyed it ever since with no problems. Follow the instructions and you can do it yourself. With the centering spring you do not have to guide the shifter into third use the palm of your hand and let the spring do the work for you. I've missed more shift 2nd to 3rd shifts until I figure out to just let the shifter do its thing.

I installed mine because I got tired of knocking my nuckles on the dash.

I ordered a MGW shifter for my '99 back in March - They told me it would ship in mid April - still waiting. I hope it's worth the wait.... The instruction video makes installation look simple. I'll report back if it ever gets delivered.

I was considering an MGW, as I believe it's one of the best out there. But at around $300, I couldn't pull the trigger and plus they aren't in stock nowadays. Yesterday I found a brand new Hurst on eBay sitting at $150 with 30mins remaining. I bid $170 on it at the last second and got it for only $164! This was too good to pass up in my opinion.
