So just replaced 4l60e in 98 C5 and no gear seems to work. Also, when I put it in drive, it is really in neutral. I know that I need to adjust the linkage. Here is my question; Since everything is electronic, If the linkage is not positioned properly, will it prevent the trans from working properly? Or does it have nothing to do with it and I probably need a new pump or converter? I haven't checked to see if the pump is working properly yet. But what other possibilities might there be? Thank you.
Yes the linkage is very important to get installed correctly---There is an electronic device that fits behind the linkage that has to line up precisely with the marks-there is a lock-nut and adjustment screw that allows you to set it correctly-This device tells the ECM which gear it's in-- Also there is a small plastic clip that fits on the linkage atttachment--It centers and holds the linkage into place -- very easy to lose and it will hook up without it--- but won't work correctly
Yes, I did fill the tranny with fluid and with the car on it just leaks and the fluid level doesn't change. So that means it is not pumping which is either a bad pump or torque converter, so I'm told.

The fluid level in the pan should definitely go down, when you start the engine after the initial fill. The front pump is either bad, or it's completely air-bound.
Did you install the correct length filter, and a new filter neck seal?
I appreciate everyone's input, I think I am going to let the professionals take over from here.. I'm not taking the car back apart :P Thank you again..
Very common mistake--even by tranny shops !!! Not to stick the converter "in" all the way-- some conveters will take 3 clicks rather than only 2---IF you didn't get it in all the way--You can still bolt the conveter up to the flywheel but there won't be much clearance--There should be about a 1/4" of clearnance btween the converter flanges and the flywheel when it's in properly
If not the pump will "instantly" break !!!!! when started.
