Maybe is it the relay in the hood fuse box but I doubt it ...
I assume the manual release works OK? If so, that proves the latch mechanism is OK.

You could try changing the relay with another similar one to prove it. Have you checked the wiring/connectors at the tonneau switch and the boot switch?

I'll check the manual

Another thought, what indication do you get from the "tonneau cover ajar" light when you pop the cover? Is it on or off?

With a problem with the tonneau switch the warning light might track it down.

This is how the system works:

The rear compartment lid is operated by the rear compartment lid release switch. When the switch is operated the body control module rear compartment lid release request is switched battery positive. The body control module will then ground the coil side of the htchtrk relay. When the relay is grounded the switch side closes and provides battery voltage to the rear compartment lid latch which will release the rear compartment. When the rear compartment lid is open, the rear compartment lid ajar switch is closed and provides an ajar input to the body control module.

If the tonneau switch is broken perhaps the signal is not being sent.

Here's the wiring digram which might help track it down. I still think you should replace the tonneau switch and take it from there.

Thank your for the diagram and explanation. As it becomes over my poor electrical skills (and translation "ajar" !), I'll discuss it with my tech mate.

Then I'll report back.

Thanks again.

Just throwing this out there because I'm not sure if this applies to you, but on the coupe if you turn the key on the drivers door 2 or 3 times it pops the trunk/boot. Does that work on convertibles as well? Maybe that works. Just a thought. Again not sure, just thought that could be a test as well.

The Trunk opening works perfect. It is the tonneau opening that doesn't work.

Thanks for the input, tho.

I can never figure out how to read these diagrams.
Is there a book someone can recommend or a link to a website that can get me up on the learning curve?

Thanks
