A friend of mine put Belanger headers on his Z06. He trailers it to the races now. However, when he tools around suburbia in all kinds of traffic, he says the heat coming from the transmission tunnel where your right leg sits is really unbearable. With the stock exhaust and pupcats, he said this issue didn't exist.
My question is: Do LTheaders (of any type) cause this problem?
I have the LGM long tubes with the race merge collectors. I have no heat issues in the tunnel area. Is he running the stock cats? I have no cats on my setup.
I have the FLP's with the hi-flow cats and haven't noticed any increase in heat from the stock setup. Sounds like Dynomat or a similar product is in order for your friend. :yesnod:

So did I, and it was too hot in the cabin of my vert going 70+ mph down the highway and 34 degrees outside. Got the KoolMat, but the car didn't run long enough for me to determine any difference. That area is already hot on stock cars, and LT headers without CATS make it even hotter. Keep in mind, the stock CATS have individual heat shields on them, so figure at least that much heat when you lose them, plus add the headers. It all adds up.
Mike,
I also have jet coated LGM headers and my tunnel is
much cooler than it was before the headers. The lack
of the precats is probley the reason it is cooler.

JW I would of assumed loosing the cats would make it less hot under there since cats are designed to run hot and burn things up.
Wasn't in my case, and the headers just made it hotter. But that tunnel has always run hotter on my vert (2000) than on my coupe (1998), and my coupe has headers with CATS. Maybe it's just a case by case situation. Still worth the KoolMat probably IMO.
