Default shifter rattle

I noticed a rattle recently ,it seems to be coming from the shifter area,my car has the B&M shitfter.Well I decided to investigate the shifter area and did find that the two bushings that hold the two bolts are falling apart,it is the two bushings that has the oval shaped metal part in the middle and holds the assembly to the car.I am hoping that these parts can be ordered without having to buy the entire shifter assembly, any help would be appreciated.

They're not available separately from GM unless something has changed recently. There is a vendor here who sells reproduction rubber bushings (approx. $20)...

Try this member (MEZ) for replacement rubber bushings...

You might get lucky and find a pair of Z06 metal bushings and never have to replace them again. Put a WTB ad in the classifieds.

Another option is polymer bushings from ZIP-CORVETTE...

While replacement bushings may solve your problem, you may also want to consider THE FERNCO MOD (below) in addition - as it is cheap, easy, and...yeah...

The cap can be bought at Lowe's/HD.

Here's my current MGW

With the Fernco cap

The cap - I use the 1-1/2" version. I used this 2" version when I tried the C6 shifter.

I'm not sure if that will cure your problem. Is the rattle all the time or just with hard acceleration? If it's the later, it's the shifter. Sell it and buy a MGW. That's exactly what I had to do to cure the rattle.

Good luck.
