Oil pressure sensor relocation kit options?
I need to fix my sensor again, and I've been reading a lot about this based on this thread:

I also found this thread but it seems that TPE (total performance engineering) is M.I.A. , unless someone can put me in touch with them? Website seems to be missing links, and I see no posts from them on here in a long time.

Anyway, what are you guys using these days? I like the idea of a plug & play kit, I don't want to screw with hours of work creating a custom job if I don't have to.

I think there was a St. Jude's auction earlier this year for one of the oil pressure relocation kits from TPE. Try sending a PM to Jennifer@TPE and see if you can get in touch with someone.

I built my own using simple parts from a home depot. Copper tubing and the adapters. Used a small tubing bender to create the path where I wanted it to set.

ZeeOSix which one did you install? The first generation or second? First one just used the stock sensor location, second seemed to have some type of oil block that mounted to your oil pan.
Sunchaser, I actually found that one but wasn't sure how I felt about it as its a bit pricey and it doesn't make any mention of reconnecting the stock wire harness to get a reading in the DIC.
Dgrant, can you elaborate a little on how you did that? Did you follow the instructions in the very long thread I linked to, or did you create a custom kit yourself? I'd be interested to hear how you did it, I may be able to replicate myself as I am moderately mechanically inclined.

OP...you are right...no mention of reconnecting the switch to the harness. When I had my intake removed, it looked like the wire run would reach to where the "remote" sensor is mounted. I do not have this mod on my C5; I have been looking at it as an alternative if my sensor ever craps out.

Dgrant, I'm trying to replicate your setup, but I'm running into the issue that the sensor and oil galley are a m16 x 1.5 metric thread, while all pipe fittings I can find are american threads, so they wont thread together. Some 3/8 pipe fittings are similar in thread but after a couple turns the threads bind up which I'm not comfortable with. What did you use to go from the sensor to the copper tube, and then what did you use to go from the copper tube to the oil galley?

I just replied to your PM. Its been years since I built that but its still in place and working fine. I believe I got everything from Home Depot including the adapter for the block but its possible I got something from a local parts store too. I really am not sure now. Its been a long time.

TPE came out with the 2nd Gen kit after people here complained that the 1st Gen kit didn't give oil pressure after the oil filter, so it would be hard to detect any oil filter clogging issues.

Suzukidan7, the part that threads into the hole where the sensor went is sold by Summit Racing. It's an Autometer part 2268. M16 x 1.5 to 1/8 npt. About $11.00. Mr. Bill gave me this when I was going to relocate mine. Rod

Thanks I just ordered one of those from Summit Racing. Now, how about the other end? What are you guys using to adapt the 1/8 copper tube to the m16 x 1.5 female so the new sensor can thread in ?

$240 bucks for a braided hose, gauge, oil pressure sensor and a couple of fittings....... DAMN I'm in the wrong business !!

I just priced out everything in that picture... including the gauge.... it's about $100 to make. If you leave out the gauge, you're looking about $70 bucks.
I will be making one of these over the next several days.

Getting back to Total Performance Engineering... here's my experience.
I, too, saw there posting for the relocation kit. I tried using their links, but "could not be found". I went to the website they had listed. It is gone, not just "down". The URL is available, meaning that it is no longer theirs.
I sent an email to Jeff @ the TPE address, came back "undeliverable".
I sent an email to Jennifer, listed at the bottom of one of their postings. No reply.
I called the phone number listed on their posting... no answer.
I sent a Private Message to Jeff, requesting information. He replied, "would you like to buy one?" I indicated yes, and asked for a phone number where I could contact him. No reply.
I sent another PM (through this Forum), requesting a contact phone number... no reply.
While they are still listed under the "Vendors" listing, there ad no longer appears on the side of the Forum pages.
At this point, I have no further interest in TPE and believe that they are totally gone. Maybe someone can prove me wrong.
