So i was watching the ALMS races, and began wondering about how one would go about converting an engine to run on E85? I really can't find a reason not to look into it, as its cheaper, burns cooler, and has a higher octane. The only downside is the obvious scarcity of stations... So anyways, whats required for a conversion, and why can't a normal gas engine run it? Thanks.

Cheaper cost at the pump maybe, but it requires around 30% more fuel, and that will have to be tuned in(And your going to need the injector/pump to do so). Not sure on Vettes, but I've ran it in my dsm. Running around with 30lb's of boost from a pump fuel is fun, but I don't see the point unless your trying to make big power, and you have a built motor, F.I. etc, and even than It still has it's trade offs.
The basics to run it are the required fuel, and usually replacing any rubber lines in the fuel system(Though I've read some people have had no corrosion problems with the rubber)

All you need are bigger injectors and a tune. Ive been running a mix of e85 for about two years now on the stock fuel pump with no issues. It helps when your compression ratio is 12.2:1 on a forged 600hp motor. Ask me how I know. N/A motors benefit from it too.
