I am pulling out my differential next weekend and have two questions:
I drag race the car often...so what gearing should I go with 3.90 or 4.10? The car has a manual transmission. I am looking to cross the quarter mile mark in 4th around 6300rpm or so.
I am looking at both RPM transmissions and DTE for the replacement...anyone have a suggestion?
My situation was slightly different than yours. I was replacing a bad diff with a brand new unit from gmpartshouse.com @ roughly $1,480.00 after shipping/tax. Rick, however, quoted me a beefed up diff somewhere along the lines of $1,900.00 before the core charge. The core would be dependent on what type of case your stock diff is in (I.e: 1-rib or 3-rib) pm him and you'll get all the info you need in less than 24hrs!
Initially, I wanted to go with 3.90 but decided to put it off for a few years as I needed the money elsewhere. Nevertheless, Rick was very helpful!
