I have the usual gas gage trouble. I fill up and drive for 40 minutes and it goes to empty. I tried techron and seafoam several times and it didn't help. My last resort is to change parts. I don't know which tank to pull. If I guess, it will be the other one. The senders are expensive and I don't want to change a functioning one. Anyone have an idea which one tends to go bad?

When you "refill" how many gallons are you putting back in? Most times it's the right tank siphon-pump/sender assembly. You also failed to say which year model you have. Makes a BIG difference.
There's no way to tell which sender is bad from your symptoms. Assuming the tank is nearly full when it drops to empty (40 mins from full), it could be either sender or even both senders. Some gauge problems give clues as to which one is bad but it's a guess in you case unless you have a code. If the car still has more than a 1/2 tank when it drops to zero I'd replace the drivers side sender first.
Heres a good How To from RJ1AZ which avoids dropping the tanks
