Hello fellow Corvette owners, I need some serious help. Last night I was having some fun in a closed parking lot doing some figure 8s and listening to the sweet sound of my Corsa's exhaust.
I had it neutral reved to about 4 or 5 rpm when it went just under 2 rpm I put it in drive the car jump like it was going into gear but did not instead it started to make a clunking noise from the rear and is now not moving at all when I put it in any gear.
I have no transmission lights on or codes in the DIC related the tranny and the clunking noise is only coming from the passenger side rear wheel. I need some advice.
I just logged on and saw your thread and the axle was the first thing I thought of. Bummer. Its happened to other people as well, although not a lot of them with this issue but I remembered reading of other accounts that this happened to them although I don't remember them saying they were doing figure 8's.
In the future if you want to do quick starts power brake rather than neutral drop, it is far less damaging to your drivetrain and will yield you better acceleration.
if you dont know how to do this
put a foot on the brake, put the car in drive, put your other foot on the gas, hold the brake firmly so you dont move, apply the gas but dont let the car move, once its up around 2k rpm let off the brake, slam the gas and away you go.
