How can you tell the difference between an LS1 and a LS6 by looking at the car. If you dont' have the origional paperwork, how could you check for youself?
Thanks.

The LS6 motor is only offered in the Z06. By looking at your sig you seem to have a convertible. You also have an LS6? How did you pull that off??

yea! perspiring minds want to know!
I hope whoever sold you the car didn't tell you it was an LS6...........
Check the 8th digit of the VIN of your Vette, G=LS1, S=LS6. Unless someone has made an engine swap.
As previously stated, the LS6 only comes in the Z06 and is the only engine available in the Z.

I bought used, and the first owner "blew out" the first engine and replaced with a rebuilt LS6 from a ZO6. But now, being curious, I wanted to know what all was swapped, and if everything was swapped.
I changed the signature until I find out for sure. The car screams, runs great no problems..but I just want to know exactly what is under the hood for sure.
If the previous owner did an engine swap I would get the documentation that supports that. It may make a big difference if you ever decide to sell. From the outside I do not think there is a visible difference between the LS1 and the LS6.
