Just got the car back from the dealer after some work, including new front rotors and pads. Looking closer, I discovered that the front brake rotors are reversed- left rotor on the right, right rotor on the left. The giveaway is that the cooling vanes in the top of the rotor should look swept back, not swept forward. If you are not sure, just look at a new car on the lot. And of course, the rotors are marked right and left, although you can't see that after everything is put back together.
Anyway, the car goes back to the dealer on Monday. Aside from using new bolts to mount the calipers, is there anything else that needs to be done when flipping the rotors? Especially, should they be surfaced? I don't think so, but I've never been in this prediciment before.
The tech is a long-time Corvette fixer who gets rave reviews from other owners. Hoping that this is just an isolated incident.....
Gearhead,
I would not lose any sleep over it.
Rotors do not need to be machined.
You could ask for new caliper bolts but I would not be upset if they use the same ones. I know many here will disagree with that.
Seems like the tech will make things right. Mistakes do happen.

Exactly.
this is an extremely minor issue. stay calm. I've like 5000 track miles on mine and don't change the caliper bolts cept by accident. an even running the rotors reversed would be (probably) unnoticeable..
The dealership called this morning, very apologetic, and said that the Tech had come in today and they would fix my car immediately if I wished to bring it in. I did, and they did. The tech says he owes me a cup of coffee. Nice to see that they promptly took responsibility for their work and corrected it, instead of the weaseling and bullpoop that so many places give out.
