Default Optima Battery Guarantee ???

Fellow Optima owners, riddle me this:

Did your Optima come with any kind of guarantee paperwork or a card.
I received mine a little over a week ago and was surprised that the transparent plastic wrap that goes around the battery was open at the top and the two plastic covers that should have been on the top two posts ( I checked my neighbors and his came with both posts covered) were missing. Also there was no paperwork except for the vendor's invoice from whom I bought the battery. The plastic inserts were in the side posts that I then removed to connect the battery but of course the top posts remain uncovered.

I'm assuming they sent me a battery that had been returned but hopefully NOT used. This is one of the disadvantages of ordering and not being able to see if you are getting a virgin one.

So what kind of guarantee do these batteries have anyway ?

Should have had the covers for the top posts. As far as the guarantee I couldn't find anything on it. Even checked there sight and it said contact the store you bought it from. Im assuming the guarantee is if it losses its charge and can't regain it, then you should get a new one? maybe. Im just happy I never have to worry about it leaking.

That's why I bought an AC/Delco Professional Platinum AGM battery from my dealer. I had a warranty card that was filled out. I paid a little more ($135 installed) for the AC/Delco but I wanted piece of mind that if any thing went wrong I could just drive it back to the dealer and have them deal with it.

I was also put off by the top posts since I have chrome covers that would fit correctly over those posts.

ghost.rider,

Optima no longer packages their batteries with their warranty paperwork.

After Johnson Control, Inc. bought out Optima batteries, they changed the way the batteries leave their factory in Aurora, CO. You have to contact Optima direct to register the battery and we are told that soon, everyone will be able to register the battery on the Optima batteries website.

The reason why the plastic wrapping around your battery was open at the top was because the person picking it up off the battery rack to ship it out, has to pick it up by the battery handle and Optima plastic wraps the battery over the handle making it very difficult to pick it up, since it is heavy. All Optima batteries that leave us, look exactly the same as the way you got yours.

Optima no longer supplies top terminal covers as they used to in the past. We have complained about it several times to Optima, but nothing has changed.

The battery you got was a fresh one directly from the Optima factory. If batteries are returned to us for any reason at all, they go back to Optima, even if the battery is new and unused. We would never ship out an item, especially a battery that was returned, but unused. We don't want to take the chance.

Optima battery warranties depend on which battery you purchased.

You can contact Optima direct for warranty info or you can contact us.

Thanks!

Shawn

Thanks  for the reply Shawn.

Notice I never brought LAPD into this discussion, I was just curious what other people thought since my neighbor's Optima has those covers.

Oh and thanks for your excellent service :yesnod:  called in the afternoon, battery there the next day
