Default LED project

Hey guys, I just upgrade my DRL lights to some clear lens black border lights from JW motoring. They look amazing even while I still have the stock amber bulbs.

I am starting a project to install some angel eyes out of the old lenses. I have holes drilled big enough for some LED lights and they should look pretty nice.

I've never done lighting work before. Where can I get about 30 LEDs with resistors that will all work with the wires from the DRLs. I'm looking for cheap parts over quality, this is a test run before I buy some more lenses and make a permanent set.

The lights are in the front compartment which holds the amber bulb, if possible, I would like it to be the turn signal also. He holes I have drilled are 10mm from the front edge of the lens with a 1/2 inch space from center of bulb to the next center. I can take pictures if needed for visual.

Has anyone done this before? It shouldn't be a very hard mod as the power source should be easily tied into this system.

Bump.

I did some YouTube surfing and I didn't find anything like what I'm doing other than 16 year olds modding their Honda Civic.

I will post some pics shortly.

Just an FYI, the DRL's are your turn signals. If you put in LED's, you'll have a current issue to deal with in order to make the flasher work. I think I heard there's a way to make this work with a special setup device but don't hold me to it.

For cheap LED's try ebay, they have tons for sale. When you go for the final build then goto JWM Motoring, they are a reputable vendor here on the forum and sell quality LED's that you want. As far as the hyperflash issue goes instead of installing resistors I installed the hyperfalsh harness that simply plugs into the harness under the knee panel under the steering wheel. It cures the hyperflash issue and works for all the LED's you install. FYI, I purchased the clear corners from JWM with an LED strip embedded across the bottom of the lens. Basically it's a channel thats dremmeled out of the bottom of the lens and an LED strip is inserted into the channel and sealed over with silicone. I got a harness for the electrical hookup from JWM that lights up the LED strip with the DRL's and headlights off and flashes the LED's together with the turn signal. With the headlights on only the turn signal falshes and the LED's stay on steady. Really looks nice. I hope I was of help and good luck with your project.
