How big should the magnet be?
I used a small 5 LBS magnet. Placed on valve stem side, resting on rim.

Almost any magnet will do, but should be about 1 inch in diameter and placed inside and against the wheel surface at the point of the valve stem, be patient, it takes about 5-8 seconds each. Make sure the DIC reads starts at the "Left Front" first. Good luck

If you start left front and maybe left front sensor is dead, you cannot proceed the programming.
So try again with starting programming at front right or rear right. If you again do not get a horn.........I do not know what to do then. If you get a horn, front left is dead.

Probably not, you need to get it on the inside of the wheel near the stem.

buckmaster,

first make sure your battery is fully charged. if it's not it won't allow you to program the sensors.
also if you slightly move (wiggle) the magnet around the base of the valve stem that seems to help.
if you check the c5 tech tip section the programming procedure is there.

I just re-programmed mine and I used a U shaped magnet, I did not touch the rim or stem at all. The magnet is about 2" tall by 2" wide and 1/2" thick.

Just did this on OEM Z06 wheels with no problems. Try placing it over the stem (if the magnet has a hole in it). The stronger the magnet, the easier the process.

Are you using your old sensors, that is, you know they are all good?

As a matter of fact, I bought my Z06 take-off wheels from Nate. Nice condition.

But I did not go with the package deal, so that I could, ahhh..., verify the integrity of the sensors. In other words, I bought new ones. I understand the batteries in them last about 5-7 years.

I guess you can pretty much guess the next step.

But before you chew up those HREs taking them apart, try putting a different wheel on the front left -- just to test the sensors. If the sequence fires up, you know you have a bad/missing sensor in the front left.

Just a thought. Hope this helps. :smash:

Maybe I did not describe it well.....so once again.....

when the DIC asks you to start left front, just go to right front and start there, it doésn´t matter because it´s only a test. When you get a horn there, then left front is damaged

I recently reprogrammed mine when I put on new HRE's. I picked up the magnets from radio shack - the largest they have. What seemed to work best is touching the side of the valve stem for about 5-8 seconds, and then stepping back away from the car. The horn sounded several seconds after moving away from the car. Weird...

Jeremy:

Not at all weird, that is actually a quite common phenomenon called "anaception."
