Default LS7 in C5 SWAP

Okay I have done a lot of searching but I am still unclear on a few things

I basically have a stock ls7 longblock right now minus the rocker arms. I am swapping this into my c5.

Parts I have currently,

ls7 intake injectors, fuel rail.
ls7 shortblock
ls7 heads, pushrods, lifters, oil pan gasket.
lingenfelter 24 x to 58 X adapter.

Parts that I know I need,

Drill and tap for dipstick
injector adapter
knock sensor extensions
map adapter

My questions come from the oiling and cam part mainly.

Do I use a stock ls2 timing cover?
Which cam gears do I use? The stock ls7 one or ls2 cam gears?
Which oil pump?
I am pretty sure my stock batwing and pickup works for the oil pan
Which cam do I order? there are different 3 bolt and 1 bolt cams now and I am not sure which one i order for this conversion?
Which timing chain?

Any help will be appreciated.

I run an LS2 cover and pump in mine. The stock timing chain should be fine. If you have a timing chain already I would order a cam that matches whatever type it is. If not I would get a 3 bolt since they are a little more common.

As long as you have the correct 3/1 bolt version they will all work to the best of my knowledge. I happen to be running a 3-bolt LS2 chain in mine.

Get rid of the LS1 oil pan and get an LS2, it will give you way more room for other things like working on headers or oil cooler lines.

The LPE box is for the crank position sensor. The upper timing gear has to do with the cam position sensor.

If you are changing over to the wet sump, make sure you get a crank spacer for the balancer since the LS7 has the longer crank snout.

Here is a very good write up form Hot Rod magazine with the parts list and where to get them.

I have the spacer from scoggin dickey. I thought about doing a write up thread on this swap since there are not any. I have been taking a lot of pictures so far. I am pretty impressed with the stock ls7 heads, much better than I expected.

I ordered a cam kit with springs from ragin racing this weekend. Looks like it will be this one

Stalker 224/246 115 1800-6800 powerband excellant power through out great drivability Choppy idle

So which upper timing gear do I need? I have the ls2 timing cover and sensor now. Can I use the ls7 timing gear?

That will work fine. It's what I am running in mine.

We've done several LS7 to C5 swaps that include the dry sump and can supply all the necessary pieces (tank, lines, fitting, etc) to make it look like a factory installed dry sump.

If this interests you, give us a call.
