Default fuel gage issus

Hello all,

I have an 2001 coupe with about 47k on it. I began having fuel gage issues that are common for these cars. I took it to the dealership and found the LH fuel sensor was bad. Dealership fixed it and I just drove it about 150 miles and after about 50 the gage went dead again. My question is this is it possible that the new sensor is bad or could it be the RH side? Also Wouldnt the dealership, when it was doing the LH check the RH? Could it be another problem? My fuel gage when it was fixed never regiestered full on the dash.....It always stayed at about 3/4.

Any ideas?

First, welcome to the forum.
Second, here's a link to a post similar to yours: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...or-issues.html

Before you throw more money at the stealership, run some techron through the system, then report back.

Im having a similar issue. After about 50 minutes of runtime i get p1416 and the gauge goes to zero. The first time it happened i filed the tank, only took 1.2 gallons prolly wasnt a whole 50 minutes. Im running my second tank of techron. My gas gauge almost never reads full always an eighth low even after i put 15 or16 gallons in. If i clear the code the gauge goes back and seems pretty accurate, hasnt stranded me and ive run it to the red. Based on reading here i think its either my rh sender or the venturi s partially clogged and the tanks even out while im stopped or parked. Clearing the code and checking input to gauge reading while at or below half tank may give you more info, the fill hose between tanks is at the halfway mark i believe. Let me know if im wrong or you find something that helps id love to fix my problem too.

Default update to my past last week

Hey guys just wanted to post an update.....I am trying the techron and I am on my second tank so by the end of the week we should if its working or if more techron is needed. I did contact the dealership and and right away they are blaming the right side and said it will need a new right tank and sending unit.......$1400 bucks. i already paid them 800 for the left side. I then tell them its the same code as last time and they said the early c5 did not have different codes for the sides....they couldnt answer me when i asked why the tech didnt check the right side.......needless to say i am not spending 1400 on this issue. I will keep using techron. does anyone know how much a right hand gas tank cost and the fuel sending unit that goes with it?

thanks
